Yesagyo Sayadaw - Ashin Vayamindabhivamsa Biography: Ashin Vayamindabhivamsa was born on Wednesday, March 16, 1955 in Shwe Kyaung Village, Yesagyo Township, formerly called Pakhangyi where a late Tipitaka Scholar- Sayadaw Ashin Ganthasara, the founder of famous Pakoku Monastery, emerged. His parents are U Ba Yee and Daw Ohn. He was ordained a samanera on Thursday, July 1967 under the patronage of Sayadaw Baddanta of Mangala-kantaw Monastery, Shwe Kyaung Village being sponsored by his grand mother Daw Nyan and his relatives. Later on his full ordination took place on Sunday, December 8, 1974. The preceptor was Sarmalauk Middle Village Monastery Sayadaw U Vicara and the sponsors were merchant U Hpo Wa, Daw Sein Tin and family of Sarmalauk Village, Nyaungdon Township.While he was a samanera, Sayadaw passed the Government sponsored Pali Patthamapyan, Patthamange Patthamalat and Patthamagyi Examinations consecutively. As he stood first in the Dhammacariya Examination in the whole Burma he received the title of Agga Maha Akyaw. He also passed the Burma Gonhtu Kyan Examination, and was awarded the titles of Sasanadhaja Siripavara Dhammacariya, Vinaya Pali Paragu and Abhidhamma Pali Paragu. Throughout his monkhood Sayadaw received many titled concerning with Nikaya and Tipitakadhara Examinations: the title of Gambhirananikavinayadhara, of Nikayujjotaka-vinayadhara, of Vinayadharadhammacariya, of Diganikayadhammacariya, of Atthavisaradamulaabhidammika, of Atthavisaradamajjhimaabhidhammika, Atthavisaradaupariabhidhammika, Atthavisaradaabhidhammika, of Vinayakovida, of Diganikayakovida, and Abhidhammakovida. In the 47th Tipitakadhara Examination of 1994, Sayadaw passed the whole course of Tipitaka completely. So he received the Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Title. In 1999, Sayadaw was awarded Aggamahapandita Title and in 2001, Tipitakadhara Dhammabhandagarika Title by the Government of Burma. Regarding to the personal character of the young Sayadaw, the first Tipitakadhara MingunSayadaw praised him by saying: "I stayed simply as U Vayaminda in my young days" to the monks, in the assembly. Really, Sayadaw is the first Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida holder of Mingun Tipitakanikaya Kyaung Taik after the 16 years of its establishment. Inheriting the late venerable Mingun Sayadaw's sasana activities, Sayadaw is now fulfilling the sasana duty with loving-kindness and patience. In honor of his two teachers- Yesagyo Sayadaw Ashin Ganthasara, the founder of Pakoku Monastery, and Mingun Tipitakadhara Sayadaw U Vicittasarabhivamsa, Sayadaw established three Pariyatti Sathintaiks, namely, Tipitakamahaganthawin (East Dagon, Rangoon) Chatthatipitaka Shwe Ukkan Pariyatti ( Hlaingsaya, Rangoon), Tipitakasantavasa Pariyatti (Nanshe Mattara Taik, Mandalay) for the propagation and promotion of sasana. With a view to disseminating the Buddha Dhamma throughout Burma, Sayadaw wrote some books: "Course of Tipitaka Studies" (Pali, Athakatha, Tika), "To Victory by Great Effort," "Spirit of Sasana Hero," "Way to Peaceful Life." " Four Kinds of Happiness for Human Life," "Nature of Human Beings." |
